Studio and second still life

For this assignment we had to look for some inspiration in still lifes. How other photographers work with light, framing or placement of the objects. Immediately I had to think of the famous pepper from Edward Weston. Edward works with the light in a certain way that the pepper becomes something new. Now the pepper looks similar to two bodys hugging each other.

In my photo I wanted to experiment with this lightning to. Therefor I looked for objects with a strange structure. In my photos for example, by using the grooves of the turnip, you can quickly create something with shadows. for example, the turnip in the photo left from this text now almost looks like a little a small skull with brains coming out. Also the shadows make the picture more frightening.

I am very happy with the end results of my pictures. All the pictures were shot analogue again. A lot of people from my group also made some photos with their digital cameras. But I wanted to keep the analogue experience where you have the mystery of how the end result will be.

I was a little afraid that the pictures would not be sharp though. Because the manual focus on the Hasselblad can be quit difficult. But I did well!
