Tactility

This week we had to work with tactility. These are the qualities that you experience in a photo for example soft, cold or wet. Soft, cold and wet are the three that I worked with. I went to see what I needed beforehand. In terms of makeup but also in terms of equipment. So I purchased a radio trigger for example. Using this can be very handy because you can use the flash from more sides.

With the first photo I wanted it to be soft, so I wanted as little shadow as possible. I also wanted the photo to be a bit clean. I decided to place the flash at the other side of where the sun came from to fill in the shadow. For the second photo did I use my mom as a model. I wanted the portrait to be cold but this was the hardest one. I wanted to show the structure of her wrinkles more, but this did not really work out. But the background being darker then the model does gave the cold effect that I wanted. Rineke Dijkstra also has that cold feeling because of the background in her shoot with teenagers on the beach. The third photo is wet so I used some oil to give my skin this wet look.

Again happy with the result, but I notice that sometimes I get stuck a bit because I want to try so many different things. There are times that you can not try everything. Then I have to stop myself and learn to just stick with the photos I have already taken.
